Oil fill tube replacement on 1997 boxter

So i recently replaced my oil air separator, but now I've found out my oil fill tube is massively cracked probably from the failing OAS. What im wondering is if i can use just a piece of rubber hosing from the hardware store instead. Seeing how it would be able to take the flexing a lot better than the plastic and would seal way way better than hard plastic on hard plastic. Anyone tried this?

Several, with mixed results.  Because of the heat and exposure to both liquid and oil vapors, plus vacuum and pressure swings, many crap out fairly quickly.  There are reasons why the factory did not use a hose......

I’ve spliced the oil fill tube with a plastic tube with clamps on each end. No issues the past 10 years. The tube was stiff enough as not to collapse upon itself.

Maybe use spiral wire reinforced tube or similar ? But a replacement from the usuals would be easier- $30 . Be careful that when you are blundering around down there to replace it you don't disturb other things.Pelican have a diy on doing this and some 'while you are in there' hints
