Hi all,

This is a wonderful forum that has assisted me greatly as an anonymised reader of posts so I thank you for that.

Apologies if i am posting in the wrong place!

I have the following issues with my 2001 Boxster 986.

I have replaced a broken drive cable for the roof mechanism however when I came to align the clamshell I ended up breaking the plastic ball joint.

Subsequently I am awaiting a new plastic ball cup.

However, at the same time I attempted to fix the broken roof drive cable I installed a new stereo (headunit) in the car.

When I did this I disconnected the battery. When I disconnected the battery the alarm went off and the car clearly didn't like it.

Now when I operate the roof (in manual with the mechanism disconnected) the windows won't drop, however they did drop before (prior to the new stereo being installed/battery being disconnected).

Is it likely that the microswitch is fried from my battery being disconnected or could it be a fault from me trying to align the hood improperly?

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.
