I was wondering if anyone has the electronic board that is in a remote control for a 2003 Porsche 911, 2 button.  It seems that I would have to buy the whole key and just checking to see if someone has one laying around he might want to sell it

Transfer your metal key blade and your immobilizer pill to the new key head and you are good to go. About $130 at your dealer.

You can't buy just the electronic board from Porsche - they do not sell it that way.

If you buy a used board from someone chances are you will have the same problem again - as the buttons do wear out.

 

Porsche gives a two warranty on all parts.

Ok I just looked that designer key head up and this also does not come with the circuit board either, so I am back to square one.  If anyone has an old key with a functioning circuit board please let me know.

A used circuit board will be no use to you.  New 9x6 keys (with circuit board) come with a bar code label with a 24 digit code printed on it.  That code is entered into the alarm module with a PST2 or PIWIS tester.  If you haven't got the code, the circuit board is useless.

The dealer told me if I can get one they are able to program it, since the transponder is still good.

The transponder and radio remote are two separate elements.  Perhaps they are confusing it with a 997, where the alarm module reads the radio remote during programming. The 996 alarm module doesn't do that.  You have to code the module manually. 

 

Unless things have changed with PIWIS3, but I don't see how it would be possible. Let us know if they were able to do it.
