My rear drivers side passenger door will unlock via switch or automatically when car shuts off but it will not lock automatically when you start driving or via the lock switch.  I have had to start locking manually using key in the door jam area.

What brought this to my attention was my kids being able to open the door while all other doors are locked & setting off the alarm.  The lights do turn on when car door opens.

Has anyone else had this issue & how did you resolve it?  Is it possible to repair myself or do I have to take it in.

I had a similar issue. Replaced the door lock actuators with ones from 05/06 cayenne and haven’t had any trouble since.

If you are diy handy, it can be done at home. You have to remove the door card, disconnect the handle and cable, then remove the outer screws holding the door skin in place, and finally unbolt the two large bolts that sit on the inside of the door from by the hinges. Afterwards, the door skin and window frame will slide out of the hollow sheet metal part of the door and the locking actuator can be replaced. The rivets have to be drilled out and a new ones can be put in.
