I have a set of winter tires from my old Boxster S, 17' rims. 205-50/17 and 255-40/17

will the wheels clear the brakes on a 2004 CS4?

I had and read misleading info on this topic

no, I don't think so.

the C4$ has turbo brakes and running gear, which I believe are a bit larger than the Boxster's.

I think the minimum rear rim for the C4$ is 285-18.

this is what the official documents are showing, but I have seen track cars with 17' rims (on 996TT) and heard about winter setups.

I am curious if someone here actually tried mounting them successfully .

No Porsche specs show 17" wheels for 996 C4S or for 996 TT. (only the emergency spare wheel/tire that is only a 5.5 " wide wheel with severe offset.)

The only way I think you could get away with that is spacers that would move the wheel out beyond the brake discs or down-sizing the brake discs. Both of which would not be advisable for handling and safety reasons.

I tried to put the 17" wheels on but they don't clear the front brakes, for just few mm. I bet that with a 5mm spacer I could make them fit.

A friend has a set of wheels off a 2006 911 cabriolet S, 225/40-18 and 265/40 18, will those fit? do I require new TPMS or the 997 ones will work on my car?
