Warning light still on after removing alternator and replacing faulty regulator.

Tested the alternator before the replacement and it was found faulty. After replacement the alternator was tested on the test bench and was charging fine.

Where should I look next?

Make sure the battery is in good condition. Then check the output directly at the back of the alternator. If it's as low as it shows on the voltmeter on the dash, it's the alternator. If the voltage is normal at the alternator (say 14v), check the cables (ground, starter cable) using voltage drop test to id where you are losing voltage.

Thanks for the replies. The Battery is fine and the alternator tested fine. I will have to check the earth cable on the engine as it seems the alternator does not earth.
It starts perfectly, so the starter assembly should be fine.

In that case, the strongest suspects are the starter y-cable and the engine ground strap (behind the right rear wheel on the cam cover).

To diagnose the cables, this may help

Thanks for all the possibilities. I removed the alternator, which goes quicker with practice and returned it for testing. It failed and now it was the rectifier. The alternator was now completely reconditioned and I installed it back in the car and all is fine. Thank you again.
