Locked out!!!!

Hi everyone-

99' 996, both remotes need to be reprogrammed, battery is good, and when I manually locked it, something happened to the key tumbler to locking mechanism.

So, the alarm is on, car is locked, and I can't get in.

options?

will opening the "frunk" with the emergency release, and disconnecting the battery reset the alarm and unlock the doors?

What a mess, and a helpless feeling.  I guess it can't hurt to disconnect the battery, you can't be any worst off.  Do you know where the cable release is, it's not easy to get to.  I re-routed mine to the back of the bumper tow hook plug.

 

Have you tried all the keys you have to be sure you've exhausted that avenue?  The other thing that you might try is calling the Police Department and see if one of their people would come out and break into your car.  At least here in our small town, they will do that.  If they will do that be sure you tell them what kind of a car you have since some cars cannot be jimmied.

Disconnecting the battery will do nothing in your case.  It will not reset the alarm nor will it unlock the doors.  Your problem is the pin behind the lock tumbler has broken or become disconnected from the lock barrel.  Nothing shy of "breaking" into your car will work.

This is always a worry when you have a car with only one door that can be opened with a key. As the owner is now faced with desperate measures to gain entry and the locked barrel seems to be broken are there any other means of entry aside from breaking a window?

 

Probably the least messy route is to get the remote re-programmed. 

 

Surely, if it opens the "frunk" then that will also open the doors.  It does on mine and then automatically re-locks the doors after the "frunk" is closed if the doors are not opened within a few minutes.

Hi guys, I have problems with selflocking. Sometimes I forgot key in car in ignition on no position and car lock.. How can I deastivate this stupid function?

To be succinct, you cannot shut this function off, it is part of the car's built in security system to prevent theft.  You should also be aware that leaving the key in the ignition when the car is not running also tends to kill the car's battery fairly quickly as many systems remain active as long as the key is inserted.

A dealer can reprogram the auto lock feature to do a few things like not auto engage at 3 mph,  but I agree that the self lock can't be removed.

Don't leave the key in the ignition.  The battery will rather quickly go bad.

Thanks a lot. Engine runnig = no lock? Im bad feeling if I get out of car for somethig.
Im from czech republic, my english isnt so strong. But my car is US version of plain Carrera.
