I'm wondering if anybody knows of a way of disabling the all lights off switch position in a 997.1 - the position to the left of "Home" on the light switch control.   I've done a DRL hack to get my fog lights to come on when the engine starts if the switch is in the "Home" position, but also need them to remain/come on even in the "All off" position.  The regulations for DRLs in Canada specifically call out no manual way to turn off the DRLs via a switch when the car is on.

Any thoughts?

Welcome to RennTech :welcomeani:

If memory serves on Canadian cars, the DRL are controlled by a programing "switch" in the DME software that can be set by a PIWIS unit, but it uses bulbs in the headlights, not the fog lights.

Thanks! :-)

My 997 is a US spec.  I had hoped the DRL fog light hack would be sufficient, but looks like it's not :-(  Hoping to find out if there's a way to disable the all off position on the lighting control - or to find another way to keep the fogs on in that position.

AS JFP says, there are several options for DRLs which can be set with a PIWIS tester in the Front Control Module.  Here are a couple of the coding screens for the 997.2 in PIWIS.  The 997.1 will be similar, but it should give you an idea of the possibilities:
