This is my first post here since acquiring a 2004 Turbo S.

 

It has deferred maintenance, so I purchased  a decent Scanner (Autel MaxiDas 708) to start sorting things out.

 

First order is the transfer case, which shows DTC 2041 (Ground supply for transfer box servo motor) and DTC 2040 (Power Supply for transfer box servo motor). I was hoping it would be something simple, like damaged wiring harness at the servo on the transfer case from off-road debris (former owner used the vehicle off-road to go camping/fishing), but the harness was perfect.

 

I couldn't find any fuses for the system either, unless the system is fed from a fuse w/ a different name.

 

I had one DTC (Transfer case switching error), but it WOULD reset, though the other first ones will NOT indicating the condition exists currently.  I am sure if I drove the car, this one would reappear, of course.

 

I tried a Search, but it wasn't on-point. I am hoping it's something relatively simple since I downloaded the troubleshoting manual for the T-Case and it alone is 65 pages! (And uses a test box only dealerships are said to have)

 

Any suggestions welcome.

Address your battery issue before believing any codes from a cayenne, thats rule number 1.

I guess I'll pull the seat and check on the battery today then.

11.4 volts before engine start is super low even though it pops to 13.8-14.0 v when the alternator comes online.

 

I do notice that unlike the suspension height control, where the switch pointers are illuminated, the transfer case control is completely dark with no lights at all.

 

Just curious, though. Is this likely because the system is actually unpowered, as the DTCs imply it is (ie, no power or ground)?

That's a weak battery for sure assuming no loose or high resistance cables between battery and chassis ground in front of the driver seat . 

If you flip the drivers seat and test the battery when disconnected and the reading is the same then you ruled out cables problem and just buy a new battery.

Accessed the battery, and it looks like it was put in yesterday (perfectly clean) but I will be replacing the "Duracell" Group 49/H8 with a new Interstate tomorrow.

 

I'll see what happens then-
