Hello,

 

I purchased this cayenne turbo s a few weeks ago and been taking care of some of the issues it has. Noticed the AC compressor wasn't firing up and I know this is an "always on" kinda system so checked the codes and I am getting an 819 fault. Put a brand new pressure sensor in, did a full recharge from a professional shop and then the compressor turned on but seemed very weak and then it threw that same code again and the compressor no longer works again. Shop is saying it could be the AC computer but I am not about to just start throwing $ away. Obviously it has a brand new pressure sensor now so that's not it.

 

819 fault is AC pressure sensor open circuit / short to ground.

 

Any thoughts or anyone have this issue that could help?

Is the system still charged? They won't run without pressure and maybe it all leaked out again...

How many grams did they put in? 

For four zone it 1050g

For two zone it's 750g

 

If they didn't charge it right either under or over it won't work properly. As me how I know when the German car specialist gagrage charged my four zone with 750g and it ran but not cold at all.

I will ask them in the morning. Would this cause the 819 fault (AC pressure sensor open circuit / short to ground)? Compressor fired up after the sensor change and then code came back and nothing again.

I doubt it. The fact you put a new sensor in and the fault came back might suggest a wiring harness issue to that sensor? 

I stated the charging capacities as this is a common mistake by shops. 

Some more in depth diagnostic required I think.

Got it figured out, needed a new air quality sensor and the fuse for the air pressure was blown. Problem though... A/C still isn't working but all faults are gone and don't come back. Compressor spins freely. Fuse in the engine bay (15 amp fs11) is good but can't seem to figure out where the relay for the A/C is located. Done tons of searching and I found the relay is R3. Any idea where this is located?

Look near the battery.

So it's not by the battery, it's not the one on the engine bay, not on either side of the top dash, I looked at the relay box under the drivers dash but I can't tell if that's L1-9 or R1-9. When I look under the passenger side dash I don't see any other relay box.

Look under dash for relay carrier item 8. Varies according to options fitted.

Yeah found that one in the car but can't tell if it houses relays L1-9 or R1-9 based on the diagram I posted earlier.

I know this post is really old, but looking at my wiring diagrams,  I don't think that RELAY "R3" really exists.  Note that the RELAY POSITION OVERVIEW table that you show above has columns for V6, V8, and turbo.  In the columns is a S, O, or -      My guess is that S is for "Standard equipment",  O is for "Optional", and dash means it doesn't apply in that model.   So this relay is "optional" on all the models?  Its possible, but doesn't sound likely.  I think there should be a dash rather than an O.  Sometimes there are just typographical errors, or maybe there was a "R3" in a late Cayenne prototype but it was eliminated before production, or something like that.
