Usually because it would be a waste of time and money, and you would end up with a "Frankenstein" system that would ultimately lower the car's value.

Most people would also want the very best for any system that their life could hinge upon;  "If you have a ten dollar head, buy a ten dollar helmet; but if your head is more valuable to you, act accordingly...………………….…….."

Appreciate the Frankenstein comment and $10 helmet. But it is really not. I drive a 16 yo car that does not command a $4000 part, really. Some of us just want a solution, in a more sensible way. What I'm suggesting is def not $10 fix. You buy a new part (for a lot less because it's not exclusively for Porsche) but with a grafted electronic board/version that would work just like new. Nothing about it is being cheaply done; the bit still comes from Bosch. I wonder if their rebuilt dept does the same thing anyway... Part of the forum is about exploring options, so I would think.

Thanks.

In many states here, such modification to a federally mandated safety system (ABS/PSM) would make the car ineligible for annual safety inspections and/or vehicle registration.  Any shop that did such a modification could be held financially responsible for any injuries or deaths in case of an accident involving the modified vehicle.  As it is a very sensitive subject, we advise customers not to go down that road as we would be required to fail the car at inspection time and report it to the state authorities to prevent losing our state issued license.

At the end of the day, it is your car and your money; you can go in any direction you please, but it is our obligation to point out the potential consequences of such actions.

Thanks again for the input. Very real.

Does anybody know if I were to manage the electronic graft, which Bosch ABS pump would be a compatible candidate/donor? If I made this work, I'd be sure to report the finding and how this is done.

Thanks!

Semi dead topic, but I've had these same codes over the years, that I ended up solving with on one occasion by replacing the MAF plug, that was cracked and lose and on another occasion, by replacing the famous ignition switch.

On this last one, my typical symptoms (I've replaced it 2 times with aftermarket ones) are: both windows suddenly open during driving, whilst the cabin lights turn on and the car unlocks, after starting, unable to turn on headlights, if idling for a while (red light, jams) ABS/PSM lights turn on.

As I'm having all of those currently, I have just bought the recommended part, the full assembly 996 347 017 07, which is now for all model-years, instead of just from -04 as initially was the case.

Hope this helps.
