Can anyone tell me how/if the exhaust tips on my Mk1 are removeable? I would like to take them off to clean them up better, but can't see any obvious way to remove them. With the boxster it was simple 1 bolt, but this looks different.

Hi Greig.... Here in the colonies, we only have hands-on experience with the MK II GT3, so this is speculation on my part. I did have a 1999 C4 and the stock exhaust tips were removable at a joint about four inches up the bend from the tip. Get under the rear end and have a look up and see if there is a bolted band clamp holding the tips/L-bend parts on.

I had a look at the fixings - look very rusted (suppose this is only to be expected on a 5yr old car), so I think I'll just clean up the tips in-situ.

Greg They will be very rusty and the only way to get the tips really clean is to hacksaw the brackets off. You can get new stainless clamps from Design911 or Type 911.... BTW it is a real pig of a job.....

I can only confirm this. I had to deal with rusted clamps when fitting a sports-exhaust on my C2. Not recommendable just for cleaning of tips.
