Is anyone familiar with the one-piece LED replacement headlights for the 986 Boxster.  There are a number of them available on eBay from a variety of vendors, including  xtrememotorcars and  MK AUTOWORLD.

They claim to be a simple, no modification, swap.

I'm skeptical, but if it works, it would be an affordable and good-looking replacement solution.

I have tried non standard Xenon fitting, but not LED.  I removed them because I was getting false engine management signals.  For example, the oil light would flash whenever I used the headlight flasher.  I would make sure that the ones you buy are warranted not to cause such problems.

Aftermarket replacements, particularly HID units, cause all sorts of headaches ranging from weird electrical issues to cars failing state inspection either because the lights did not have the correct focusing lenses, or were devoid of DOT approval markings (mandatory in some states here).  Because of all the problems we have seen, we also consider aftermarket headlights a "deduct" item when doing a PPI on a car.

Thanks for the comments and words of caution.  Hate to spend $1k each for headlights on 14 yr old car, but guess I'll bite the bullet.
