Hi All,

Need your help. I can hear the mechanism working using the key and the button in the car but the rear trunk will not pop up.

I believe there is a emergency cab(le, but how do I get to it. I am not a mechanic.

Any assistance appreciated. (Melbourne, Australia)

Hiya I am in the UK and this happened to my Boxster last year.  The cable had snapped hence it not opening.  I got a secondhand one fitted at a garage.  There is a pulley under the bumper area but the garage wanted 1.5 hours labour just to release this pulley but this wouldnt fix my problem so I chose to get the cable fixed rather than pay to have the boot released.  I hope this helps - ps google porsche boxster boot release diagram as Im sure it will bring the diagram up :)

i think the secondhand cable cost £100.00 plus fitting at £90 per hour (about 1.5 hours labour) so quite costly....but hey you own a porsche :)

The rear trunk emergency cable is located behind, and on the rear side, of the left inner wheel well.

Changing out the broken trunk release is pretty easy

Just pull back the carpet, a screw or 2 and wiggle it out

I bought a used one on ebay for around $30

Took about 15 minutes to swap out
