I recently upgraded my stereo to a Pioneer AVIC double DIN unit, and in the process broke the clips on the GPS / rain sensor cover. I have been unable to locate this part or part number. Pelican and my local shop haven't been able to get me a number either.

  • Model year : 2001
  • Body Style : Boxster S
  • Transmission : Tip
  • Interior color : Metropol Blue
  • Country-specific : US, LHD

Please let me know if you need any other info to help me locate this part / part number. Thanks in advance.

Porsche parts list does not show a part number for just the clips.

You might want to try a salvage yard or you will need to buy the whole sensor cover (about $137 in Metropol Blue).

Hi @Loren. Thanks for that response. Do you have the part number for the sensor cover? That's what I'm looking for (although the interior is Metropol Blue, the cover is black/gray). The clips are just little plastic tabs on the cover. I don't have a picture handy at the moment.

I did the same thing when I installed my Pioneer double din unit.  Because the part is exposed to a lot of sun, I think mine became brittle.  I may also be a little clumsy.

I bought a replacement from Sunset Imports.  The part number they quoted was 996-552-181-04-A03.  The price was $24.32 in 2010.  I think the "A03" is the color code for black.

There is a guy in your area who sells parts from wrecked Porsches named John Wood.  I would try him first to see if he can help you.  Here's a link to a thread he has on the 986 Forum:  http://986forum.com/forums/boxster-parts-sale-wanted/52469-parting-out-whole-lot-boxsters.html
