Cayenne courtesy lights

Hi everyone,

I have recently just purchased a Cayenne S On a 2004 Plate and the courtesy door lights arn't working on the drivers side however they work on the other side, Also the wing mirror on the drivers side will not fold in yet its working on the passenger side does anyone know if these two faults could be related. I just wondered if anyone has had a similar problem.

On my last Audi I had similar problems with a few circuits on the driver door not working. The broken connections are in the wires harnessed between the door and the fender, I spent some time looking around and it is an incredibly common issue with Audi b6's and probably more. The wires on this harness that I could find for no cheaper than 185$ were so thin that I would not expect them to last more than a few years installed on a part that gets bent every time the door is opened, Thankfully my initial inspection on my cayenne make me feel like thinker wires were used. 

 

If you are careful enough you can re-pin the keys and put your own quality wires in case you just want a cheap fix go ahead and cut and splice. There ya go, a problem on your porsche fixed for almost free
