I get the green cruise control light when I start the car, but almost immediately after putting in gear and driving down the road, it goes away, and no more cruise control.

Any ideas?

I do realize that I have a fault in the system, I was only hoping that someone may have seen something like this and be able to give me some advice OTHER than going to porsche and getting a scan.

Without proper scan data, any suggestions would be a pure guess.  There are several things that can trigger cruise system faults (wheel speed sensors, brake or clutch safety switches, cluster programing and communications faults, etc.).  To fix this with minimal effort and cost, you need to know where to start.
