Folks,

 

I am trying to document my learning thru different posts on this forum to demystify cooling system in Boxster 986.

 

 

1. Engine Oil

2. Drain pipe that is open on the other end and can be found above the rear right wheel 

3. Vent or Bleeder -  I see there two vents coming from the radiators and from the diagram there should be another bleeder from the Engine. These are joined some where under the body and one pipe gets to the expansion tank.

4. Coolant pipe goes to Engine

5. pressure cap ? will in open on excess pressure ?

forgot one more pipe from the bottom of the tank

#3.  The oil cooler is the highest point in your cooling system, and the place where any air in the system will collect and potentially do the most damage by not cooling the oil.

 

Look at the top of your oil cooler, you will see a line coming off it:

That line runs over to the tank.  The total system bleeder is on top of the tank with a ring attached to it:

Thanks JFP. I just updated the picture with one more hose #6 from the bottom of the tank, And here is the updated list.

 

#1: Engine Oil

#2: Drain

#3: Oil cooler (engine coolant vent)

#4: radiators vents?

#5: Level

#6: Pump
