Hi All,

I'm Boxster shopping, and have stumbled upon what looks like a great deal: a 2010 Boxster S with 30,000 miles for 28k. Based on the selling dealership, I believe it will have a flood salvage title.

Although this is a bit outside my original budget, I can't help but give this some consideration.

From what ive read, the single largest boxster issue is the IMS bearing. If I've understood correctly, the 2010 engine eliminated the IMS. Is that right? I've been looking through the forum for any pervasive issues with the 2010, and I'm not seeing any.

Should i I take this to suggest that's lot of the kinks are well worked out in 2010?

of course, I'm going to have my local independent garage do a PPI, but I'd appreciate any words of wisdom the group may have about this contemplated purchase - specificially if there are any showstoppers to be concerned about.

Its a 6 speed manual, btw.

Many thanks,

Eric.

Porsche switched from the M96/97 design engine to the 9A1 in model year 2009.  The 9A1 does not use an intermediate shaft, so there is no bearing to worry about.

Flood salvage? Oouch. Salt water or fresh? Makes a difference. Talk to your insurance company and State DMV before you proceed too far into the process.
