Am thinking of replacing my PCM in my 2006 911S with a new Head Unit (Pioneer or Kenwood). What happens to my Individual Memory settings?  Will they revert to a Default setting? and never to be changed again?

Posted (edited)

I just replace my head unit with a Pioneer AViC-8200NEX and I could not be happier!!! What memory settings are you worried about? I have all and more! I also have a 06 C2S with 38k miles on it! You wont regret the touch screen and all you can do with it!!

Thanks.  The memory settings I am concerned about are the Light Menu (Day run.lights or not), Fade out time for lights, Orientation light settings, Rain sensor for wipers,Climate ctrl.mem, Door opener, Auto lock, or you can set them to Factory setting.  This is all done through the PCM.  Remove the PCM and you don't have those controls any more.

If you are removing the PCM the individual memories should be retained.  To change them in the future, you can have it done by someone with a PIWIS tester (or maybe Durametric Pro).  They are stored in the Key settings in the PAS module.  You should still be able to change the DRL setting through the OBC.

You should really have the other modules re-coded to remove the PCM, Phone, CDC, etc from the Gateway controller.  If you don't, you will get all sorts of CAN communication errors between modules.  You won't see them yourself, but any techs trying to diagnose a problem at a later date will be tearing their hair out trying to figure out what is going on.
