Hi,

I have a 2012 Cayenne without Homelink. I'm going to try to retrofit this, so I bought an used roof console with the Homelink buttons and an used Homelink control module that is to be installed in the front bumper. According to the parts lists no other parts are needed. But how can I figure out how to wire the new roof console and the control module?

I got hold of a wire loom for retrofitting Homelink for newer Audis and while these have a seperate PC board for the three buttons in the roof console that the wiring connects to, the Cayennes PC is integrated in the roof console.

Is there a way to get hold of the schematics of the roof console and Homelink wiring?

I went through the wiring diagrams in the Porsche service manual. The only references to the Homelink were for the power (taken off fuse 47) and ground to it. There is a wiring diagram of the overhead console - that doesn't show it at all.

The module mounts in the nose of the Cayenne above the center grille. Dunno if there is any existing wiring in that area or not. It's vaguely possible that the Homelink module to the overhead console link is made via Can-Buss, lots of other stuff on a Cayenne is controlled that way - but minus any detailed wiring diagrams I can't actually say..

Good luck and please post what you figure out..

Thank you for your help :)

I found the same diagrams as you did after you pointed me to the wsm. However, this only covers the power and ground to the Homelink module. The third and last wire (signal) is not shown in the wsm. I tried to find it in the WDS, but the schematics for the 92A Cayennes are not labeled completely in WDS so I cannot figure out where to connect the last wire... I have no clue as to what module this wire is connected to. Any help?

Ynor - I would need a bit clearer version of the diagrams you're looking at (a page reference, or heading reference also would be handy) in order to track them down on my workshop manual.

Those diagrams are only available in PIWIS or PIWIS 2.

You can zoom and move them around but they print poorly.

I do believe that the schematics I have originates from PIWIS, but I'm not sure. I can zoom around and move them about, but the problem is that the modules are not labeled for the 92A. Some other cars in Porsche WireView has much more detailed labeling, so connecting the Homelink module in a Boxster would be no problem. The attached picture is a zoomed version of where the third signal wire is to be connected, but I don't know what module it is supposed to connect to as the module is labeled as "BCM1C_P"

So I figured out that the three wires connecting to pin C32 in the picture above is at the front BCM under the dashboad. I found this corresponding schematic in the wsm, see attachment. It seems that the Homelink signal is connected to the same wire and pin at the BCM as the electric power steering. In the schematic above, both the electric power steering and Homelink is connected to C32, but in the wsm, the three wires are labeled as "electric power steering" only. I can't understand why the Homelink signal and electric power steering is connected to the same pin and wire, and why the Homelink signal is not labeled in the wsm..?

I have not installed and wired yet. Haven't found the time. Will let you know how it works out.

I can't find the part number for the wire harness for the Homelink transmitter in the front bumper. Anyone know if coding is needed?

I finally sourced a PIWIS 2 system so I can program adaptions for the HomeLink retrofit. I have got the HomeLink control unit that must be installed in the front bumper and I have a new roof console with the Homelink buttons. The only thing missing now is the wire harness. Anyone know if the wiring for HomeLink control unit is available in the front bumper? I can not find a part number for any wiring harnesses specific for HomeLink options, so maybe the wiring is already there..? I haven't removed the front bumper yet myselft to take a look :)

Porsche only lists 8K0 907 410 and 8K0 907 410 C

Just tested  8K0 907 410 H02 transmitter module from Audi R8 in Porsche Cayenne Turbo (958) ... works like a charm :-) I think H02 (and H04 on some modules) must be a version indicator ... :-)

I'm trying to follow this thread to retrofit Homelink into a 99 Boxster.

I found a Porsche Homelink module 997.618.227.01 that says "Homelink H01 S01" along with the matching buttons with 4 pins and mounting bracket. They did not come with wiring connectors. So, I found an VW/Audi Homelink module 8K0.907.410.c.H01 with the connector. It has 3 wires: brown (center position), purple with black stripe, and black with blue stripe. I also found in my computer parts stuff that a 4-pin speaker connector fits the button sockets snugly, and I just happen to have both ones that have 4 wires and 2 wires.

In short, I think I have all the parts and that I can find the locations of fuses. I'm just confused on what wires connect to what. Any help for a guy who doesn't know the meaning of 92A, WDS, C32, BCM, PIWIS, PIWIS 2. I'd rather not fry my baby from guessing.

Welcome to RennTech :welcomeani:

92A is a Cayenne model designation

WDS is wiring diagram system

C32 is a connection pin designation on the BCM

BCM is body control module

PIWIS/PIWIS 2 are Porsche factory diagnostic's computer systems "Porsche Integrated Workshop Information System"

My major concern in this project is that the 1999 model year Boxster's HomeLink was not available as a factory option as none of these model year Boxster's had CAN Bus technology in them, which is how the HomeLink system communicates, and two different vehicle model designations you list both did have it.  If that is factual, this system cannot work in your car.  The Porsche part #997.618.227.01 is for a 2004 vehicle, which would have CAN Bus.  If it were being installed in a vehicle that did have CAN Bus, the PIWIS system would be needed to code the system to make it work properly. And before you ask, a PIWIS system costs $20,000 for the first year's lease.

For more information on how the correct Boxster model HomeLink system was added to a later model Boxster that has CAN Bus technology, go here:

Good luck.
