Hi, can anyone recommend somewhere to get an MAF for a 996 in the UK please, other than Porsche direct? I've seen MAF Shop etc but would like to know if anyone has experience of them?

Many thanks.

Thanks guys. The Amazon one looks reasonable, certainly more so than euro car parts.

I'm not entirely sure that's the issue but have an annoying hunting problem at low revs when the engine is cold, so figured it's worth a try.

If your car uses a cabled throttle, you may want to clean your throttle body and idle stabilizer valve first before anything else.

As Ahsai said, you could try cleaning the throttle body.  It's an easy job with the air box removed and the ignition off and key removed.  Mine has an electronically controlled throttle.  The butterfly valve can be opened and the area cleaned with throttle body spray and lint free cloth such as micro-fibre, to prevent any fabric bits being left behind. Even use a vacuum cleaner to make sure. After this has been done and the air-box and filter put back on, I turn on the ignition for about a minute, without starting the car.  I understand that this settles the control mechanism.

As I mentioned before, I would also try cleaning the MAF with a specialist spray.  Do not touch the delicate film areas, just use the power of the spray to clean things off.  When I did this I found I had a noticeable improvement in fuel consumption.

Sorry didn't see that pic, I was looking on my phone last night, I'll wip mine out and check the number.

I have already cleaned the existing one and changed the idle valve & throttle body but the problem still persists, I think the MAF is the only item remaining now! Basically, when cold and at low revs it struggles to hold a constant RPM and instead fluctuates a little, maybe by 50 RPM or so. Not there under hardish acceleration, just when the engine isn't under much load.

Hilux - Olympic sale at Euro Car Parts means it's just been reduced to around £200! Amazon is still a bit cheaper though.

I saw the Olympic20 sale and was going to post, but as you say more expensive than other options.  The price variations make me cross as parts like this are used across many ranges.  Once you put a Porsche tag on the price goes up by about 50%.

I bought the one from Amazon in the end, it arrived yesterday and I fitted it last night. Drove to work this morning but it's probably too early to tell yet if it's made any difference to that particular issue. The weather is quite warm right now and it was always more obvious during the colder months. That said, it did seem smoother in general but that could be in my head!!

Will report back in a couple of weeks to update.

Thanks again for all your replies.
