Did a search and wondering what the issue is with my car. Drove for about 60 miles today and took a break. Got back in the car, 2002 6MT 996 60k miles.  Over the course of about 2 miles, in various different gears, I would be driving and giving it gas but the RPMS dropped and wouldn't drive for a few seconds. Then the engine would catch.

Could it be the MAF?  Posted on Rennlist also and some suggest coil packs. Those were replaced within last 10k miles though.

Thoughts?  Thank you

You need to read the fault codes... without them everything is just a guess.

Use Durametric or a Porsche tool to read the fault codes and report them back here.

good luck.

sounds like maf, and those are expensive, but often can be cleaned with a spray-on maf cleaner.

Loren is right, don't spend any money until you run a durametric test, or get a read-out from a dealership.

Might be someone in your area who would let you use/borrow a durametric.  Check with local PCA chapter.

Maf issue would not necessarily trigger a CEL coming on.

with engine off Unplug the MAF, Go drive. If it drives well again it's your MAF.

Clean MAF (with electrical contact cleaner or MAF cleaner only) don't touch the wires with anything. Unplug battery for 10mins while installing MAF then drive again. If still bad replace.
