2011 Cayman S Door Sill

Hi everyone, I know I'm referencing an old thread, but mine is a new challenge on my just acquired 2011 Cayman S. 

 

I'd appreciate a bit of collective wisdom to assist me in removing the driver's side door trim on my 2011 Cayman S. The sill plate is scuffed and I want to replace it.  My challenge is in removing the trim strip that sits atop the carpet, weather strip, and the damaged sill plate.

Per Loren's post from 2010, I have pulled the 2 little black plastic plugs on the side, but am unable to make any torx or allen wrench mate up with the HW that is supposedly securing the strip. Of course there is no line of sight to the HW, and I have been unable to find out what the size/spec is on the fastening screw.

Any ideas on where I can find this? Also, any tricks to getting the wrench lined up!

Well, it was a good afternoon. :thumbup:   With the help of my local body shop, we determined that on my 2011 S, the bolt securing the scuff plate is a 3/16"allen head!!  Really?? Well it worked on one bolt there.  I then went back home and loosened both and was able to pop the plate and then remove the damaged sill cover.  It was massively attached with quite a bit of adhesive tape, but it finally came off.

 

Cleaned the painted sill underneath, then mounted the new cover.  All good!

 

Popped the scuff plate back on and secured the 2 allen bolts,  Job done!  Thanks Loren for your help, and it really was not so bad once I figured out what size and type of HW was used to secure the scuff plate.
