I recently purchased a 2001 Boxster S 6 spd with 59k miles. I am doing the required 60k service and want to flush/change the brake fluid. According to the Bentley service manual it's telling me I can't bleed the brakes on a PSM car only a shop with the Porsche scan tool. I have read conflicting reports online also. Can I or can't I change my brake fluid on my PSM equipped Boxster.By the way this is my first post been lurking mostly

Bleeding the brakes by yourself should not present any problems provided the fluid in the brake reservoir is kept topped up.

On the other hand, flushing the system runs the risk of air getting into the ABS/PSM circuit. If that happens, then the ABS module will have to be cycled either with the Porsche equipment or by yourself with a Durametric cable and laptop.

Welcome to RennTech :welcome:

Unless you have gotten air into the ABS/PSM control network, a scan tool is not needed to do a brake system flush.

I have the Motive one man brake bleeder. I want to do a simple flush of some of the old fluid with fresh fluid. So if I keep the tank from going "dry" with fresh fluid I should be good?
