2006 Cayenne Turbo with tiptronic manual mode, key removal, and steering wheel lock issues.

Purchased car with consistent need to turn key back and forth in order to remove. Also, steering wheel lock was not activating. Intermittent inoperable gearshift-activated tiptronic mode, but steering wheel buttons always work. On longer drives, P-R-N-D on dash would all become simultaneously illuminated on the dash. On the center console, both D and whatever position the shifter is in are illuminated at the same time.

First, I disassembled shifter and made sure magnets for shifter were in place - all there, and sliding gate in good condition. Checked under carpets for water - none found. Checked TCU under passenger seat for wicked up fluid causing a fault - no visible issue. Checked shifter circuit board for bent pins - all good. Removed shifter and re-set cable position. Currently, if I leave shifter circuit board unplugged, I no longer have to wiggle key and the steering wheel lock actually works! If the shifter circuit board is plugged in and I move the shifter from Park to Drive and back to Park with the car on, the key and steering wheel lock go back to not working. When the shifter circuit board is plugged in - Drive is always illuminated - plus whatever position the shifter is in. Manual mode via the gear lever never works anymore - although the buttons on the steering wheel still do.

Any further testing I can do without PIWIS or Durametric? I'd rather not replace parts unless I know they will address the remaining manual shift problem.

Any and all help is greatly appreciated!
