So I've been trying to figure this out for days ... my convertible top is stuck in the "up" position.

When I release the handle from the roof and press the top down button, I can hear the relay click and the dashboard indicates that the top is lowering but nothing else happens. The windows don't dip, no noise from the back, nothing - just a relay click and dashboard notification.

So far I've tried:

  • Swapped relays for top up and down
  • New Fuse in spot E3 (power top)
  • New top latch microswitch

None of this has made any difference, still just the same as when I started.

I'm really at a loss and I can't find a full wiring diagram for the Boxster, only the Cayman. There are no other electrical issues (that I've noticed) with the car - I've checked everything else controlled by the Rear ControlUnit such as the spoiler, tail lights, etc ... and it all works fine.

What's throwing me off are the windows not dropping. I don't know what controls that or what could be causing them not to. If I hold the "top down" button and manually press the microswitch I can hear the relay click off, to me that seems to indicate that the switch is making a connection (and I've tried a new switch) I thought maybe it was a limit switch on the convertible top motor or something tricking the car into thinking that the roof is already lowered ... however due to the notification on the dashboard that it is lowering and the relay clicking, I don't know if that could even be it.
