I have an '01 996 Turbo. A previous owner had a radar detector hardwired, but it was disconnected (not removed) before I purchased the car. I removed the remaining wiring and have some loose ends left near the center console. Should I just tape these off? Did I disconnect anything that needs to get put back together? Does some of this look leftover from the detector?

There are two sets of wires. At the bottom (or left, photo seems to have rotated), there's a set coming out of the main wiring with two harnesses on the end. Slightly below (or right) is black wire that runs along the passenger side to the rear of the car and goes into the engine bay (second photo). I tried looking at some wiring diagrams, but I'm out of my league.

Thanks!
Eric

I would remove the extra wires from the 4 pin connector (phone prep connector). Then put friction tape and electrical tape on the repaired wires. Or, better yet...  cut them, prepare a proper (soldered) spice with heat shrink tubing.

Brown - ground
Yellow/Black - telephone mute
Green/Black - switched 12 volts
Red/Green - unswitched 12 volts

Thanks Loren!

Turns out the wires were soldered pretty nicely so I clipped the extra ones off as close as possible and then just taped them up. I managed to trace the other wire through the trunk and end up removing it - in addition to the window-mounted radar detector another unit had been placed in the right rear tail light. Finished up by doing the GT3 center console delete.
