Back in June my 1999 C4 got wrecked... I was turning left into my neighbor hood and the person behind me decided to pass on the left. She got the door, wheel , and quarter. Insurance totaled the car. I really dig this car and just couldn't let it go, and now she's back better than ever. 996 love!!

996 love for sure - very nice. Wheels, did you paint them black or have them done? And the grill in the front bumper just in front of the hood, insert or is it a a whole piece/"new" bumper?

Just noticed your former car was a 1971 Camaro. Same here!

I miss that car. Mine was in really good shape. Red on black. 350. Muncie 4 speed. Sweeet!

I disassembled the wheels and had the centers powder coated black. I put some elbow grease to the lips, sanding out curb rash and polishing them.

The front bumper is from a Boxster S, (I really don't like the factory 996 "smiley") and I had the body shop cut the RS slots in front of the hood.

Yeah, I miss my 71 Camaro. Wish I could've hung on to that one.

Nice job ! Did you do the work yourself or have it done? How did you get the car back from the ins. co. ? Did u have to buy it after they gave you the $, or did you negotiate the "totaled" price and in essence"buy" it out of that ? Interesting scenario...

Yes, C4 looks better than before.  Front end is very nice.

Somehow the early Camaro's made it into this thread.  I had a factory new '68 with the Muncie 4-speed.  Black vinyl top, on yellow.  Neat black striping around the front.

Not a Porsche, but still was a lot of fun.  Thanks for the memory.
