For peace of mind I had the LNE retrofit bearing installing at around 35k miles.

Single row, LN 106 08-2, on the 2003 C4S.

Is there a recommendation about when, if ever, to do another prophylactic LNE retrofit?

The numbers bandied around fortunately have grown somewhat with experience; current numbers are around 50K miles for the original single row bearing: http://imsretrofit.com/service-intervals/; while the newer "Pro" version for the single row engines is at 75K.

Why not do Raby's "The Solution" and be done with it once and for all?

 

Purely a cost & time horizon scenario, the Solution, while permanent, costs nearly $1K more for parts compared to either the old style single row or the newer Pro, and requires a bit more labor to install; and some people are simply not seeing themselves owning the car long enough to benefit.

About 18 months ago or so.  A lot of installers are not pushing it because they would need to acquire the Faultless installation tool to do the Pro, which costs around $750 for the tools.  There is really nothing wrong with the bearing you have, it is just that the Pro is believed to be even stronger.

I actually went back and read the box my LN Bearing came in and mine is the Pro pt. number LN 106 08-2.2 which is great news :D im not a big fan of the external feeding line of the solution even if it is a better product IMO.

There is nothing really wrong with the external oil line, it is incredibly durable braided stainless and tucked up out of harms way.

I agree its an excellent solution I just like the internal bearing, even better that its the pro as well. If the shop had offered the solution I would have considered it, unfortunately they didnt. Luckily my bearing was perfect and showed no signs of wear or play.

I'll do the LN 106 08-2.2 at around 75k, unless a newer update has come out.

Any idea about what the current recommendation is for replacing the LNE Dual row bearing?

 

I belevie they are now also 75K, but I would check LN's website for the most updated information.

Just on this LN also recommend a year/mile replacement.  I.e. 75k or 4 years? Does the years hold any merit or should the miles be the primary focus for replacement? I was thinking about getting the solution next replacement.

I would think that the mileage is the more important number.  One of the largest strengths of the Solution is that it is permanent, which is a great point at resale.
