Engine under powered?

Hi

Glad to be back in Porsche ownership with a cheap boxster S, I used to have an 03 a few years ago but I don't really remember the characteristics of the engine. Mine seems to have good top end, but a bit flat below 3200 revs.

I.e, on the motorway in 6th at 75mph and you put your foot down, the pickup is slow, like a couple of mph's every couple of seconds.

Engine definitely ramps in past 3300 revs and the car feels fast

Does this sound right.

Yes, this is normal and how a porsche wants to be driven.  Its not a civic, drive it over 3k rpm and enjoy.

Bore > Stroke = less low end torque.

 

As a reference, the cylinders of the 3.2 engine have a bore of 85.5 mm and stroke of 78.0 mm.

 

So keep the revs up!
