Hello everyone this is my first post, please be gentle:)

 

And here I am desperate after about a days worth of trying to figure out the problem

 

Cayman 2007.

 

Basically the story is:

The car battery was empty, to the point it did not start. I called the dealer, they picked up the car and they changed the battery. When i got the car back, when the passenger door opens the door goes down 10cm but when the door is closed it doesnt go up again.

 

I called the dealer they put the car on the diagnostic and they told me that the problem is probably a vary small part on the locking mechanism of the door but they can only change the whole mechanism, quote $600. I said thank you and left.

 

I assumed its the door latch microswith. So i took the door appart, check the microswitch on the door latch, it was working, I gave it a good clean anyway and i put it back, problem pressist.

 

I though maybe its a problem with the connection inside the latch? Anyone knows the pinout of the latch so I can check without dissasembling it?

Maybe its the main door connector? Anyone knows the pinout there?

Anyone has any other ideas in general?

You are reporting that the glass drops 10 cm, normally it should be aprox. 10 mm. Either you are mistaken regarding the mesurement or there is something more going on, the window mechanism is still working with the switches? no unusual noise?

10mm sorry, yes the switch works normal as always, thats why i though maybe there is a pinout problem. question is were does the actual microswitch signal goes

Try to relearn the window(s), with the doors closed, first. If this does not help, a PIWIS diagnostic device is recommanded, it may well be an error in the door handles microswitches.

I tried so, i have checked the microswitches themselfs and they work. i dont know were they go thow, i mean the wires maybe there is a damaged wire somewere or the main door connector? is there a way to get a wiring diagram?

 

PIWIS diagnostic means going back to the dealler right?

I am let to believe its a problem with the regulator controller. I am going to take it to the dealer for a diagnostic

ok so apparently the diagnostic concluded the same as me, that the window controller needs replacement.

As the fault was presented after a replacement of a flat battery can i argue that it was caused due to an electrostatic discharge (or something similar) and therefor that the part has simply not faded over time(as the workshop manager tried to persuade me)?
