Hi Everyone,

I've been a long time fanantinc of the 911.  I had a 2002 996 for five years with no issues I put 110k miles on it.  All i did was brakes, tires, clutch and water pump.  Awesome car before it was totalted.  No IMS issues whatsoever.

I found a nice 2009 997.2 C2s 6-speed, with 58k miles on it for sale at a reasonable price. It doesn't have all the options but it has everything i need.

I'm curious to know how many people have owned 997.2's with over 60k miles on it.  Anyone hit 100k or even 150k?  Any items that had to be replaced outside of regular wear and tear?

Thank you for your responses!

I'm at 80K with my 2009 C2, putting on about 17K/year.  Other than regular maintenance, the only issue I had was a leaking sunroof which was fixed under warranty.

I'll weigh in with my experience...

I've had my 2009 997.2 for around two years now. I bought mine from a Porsche Dealer (Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia) after a lengthy search. Mine is a "launch" model for Australia and comes with most options including PDK.

  • C23 Version for Australia
  • 026 Silver faced stopwatch
  • 250 PDK gearbox
  • 377 Adaptive sports seat, left
  • 378 Adaptive sports seat, right
  • 640 Sport Chrono Plus
  • 762 PAG Code - Launch code
  • 844 Multifunction steering wheel
  • 983 Seat covers, front, leather

It's also got PSE which I had the dealer add at purchase time as part of negotiations.

So in terms of reliability I have had no issues other than when I had the FabSpeed intake on, which after about two weeks generated a CEL. I removed it, replaced the stock airbox and had the dealer clear the error codes.

It's been for two services 60K km and 70K km, both done at the dealer here in Brisbane, the 60K km was $595 AUD and the 70K km only $395 AUD. This is quite a bit cheaper than my wife's Mercedes (2013 C Class Wagon). The only other expense was the OTT software\map update for AUD $395.

I drive the car every day, about 50km round trip to work in mostly city traffic. It carts kids to Scouts and picks up the groceries.

So in terms of reliability the Porsche is pretty reliable. Queensland is a very humid area in Summer, with temps around 30+ degrees, Winter is quite mild with temps only getting to single digits once or twice. The biggest issue is the crappy roads and Australian drivers. ;-)

I've had my 2009 C4S cab with PDK for 10k miles so now have 66k on it. I also drive mine daily. So far the only issues have been:

- high pressure fuel pump - previous owner as part of the porsche replacement program

- oil level sensor. Easy fix.

- water pump at 56k

I need to get the software upgrade for the PCM too but haven't done so yet.

I have been researching this model for a couple months and look for one to buy at the same time.  I was just reading the other day on a UK Porsche site that the new engine is pretty bullet proof.
