Hey everyone,

I just wanted some opinions to see if I may have an issue. I had a new clutch kit installed when I had the IMS replacement about 2 months ago. Prior to installing the new clutch kit, I had no issues and no noticeable clutch chatter at any rpms.

With the new clutch, I also have zero vibrations or clutch chatter noise so long as the rpms are over 1000 with a load on the transmission. There is no chatter at idle with the car not in gear or with the clutch pedal depressed.

What's changed with the new clutch is if the car is warm and I try and ease out the clutch slowly without using any throttle (pulling into my garage, for example), I'll get some vibrations in the car and a slight chatter noise. I definitely don't remember it doing this with the old clutch.

Is this normal?

There is not mentioned how many Miles/Km the car has but it could well be that the dual-mass flywheel is at its end, you can also not know what happened with it during the IMS replacement.

I had the same problem and it was the dual mass flywheel. The springs between the two sections had worn and there was near 20 degrees of backlash which gave a chattering at low speeds and on over-run. The noise went away with a new dual mass flywheel.

Well the DMF may have some wear, but the issue has been fixed for the most part. I had the transmission fluid changed; the old stuff that came out was black. I know that clutch fluid shouldn't have anything to do with clutch chatter, but it makes me think that the fluid was degraded or low enough that the DMF and clutch vibrations were getting transmitted through the driveline. Now she's all better.
