Hello,

I have a 2001 Boxster with the tiptronic. After car is up to temp I get the flashing D and 4 on the instrument cluster. I never notice any difference in driving. It never lasts very long. Always back to normal by the time I reach my destination. I now have the  Durametric cable and software and read the code P0710 for the tiptronic. Description is a high temp in tiptronic. I have changed the filter and fluid per the Pelican procedure. I have double checked the fluid level. Looking for recommendations as to next direction. Temp sensor next? Is there a coolant valve I should look into? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

P0710 code is often a temp sensor failure in the Tip.  Problem is that the sensor is very expensive to replace (sveral hundred bucks for a new one in a box), so I would first check the actual fluid temperature to make sure the unit really is not running hot before considering replacing the sensor.

I had a coolant leak from the vacuum operated electric changeover valve that controls the coolant flow to the rad for the tip. It is located on the left rear near the shift linkage. Yours might not be opening.
