Well, I tried wal-mark (milpitas and mountain view stores), Kragen.. no luck. Can't believe these are hard to find.. Really dont want to go to the dealership. No enjoying the rapes.

Some Walmark stores have it for $5.00 a qt. Costco in Bayarea used to have it for $4.00 a qt.

Not even Posche charges much for the oil filter. Don't remember the going rate because I bought a bunch of them on ebay to bring to our work on cars days when we do oil changes.

The filter is made by Mahle and even has the Mahle part number on it. Any import parts place should be able to get it and you can even find them on ebay. Don't forget the drain plug seal because it does not come in the box.

I remember I saw some at the new AutoZone at Millbrae on El Camino has some for around $5.00 /qt. I think the filter is around $15.00 at the dealer.

Kragen carries 0-40w but they may run out of it sometimes. Pep Boy doesn't have 0-40w. Costco doesn't have 0-40w.

I'd call around to different Kragen to see if they have it in stock. $5 is regular price.
