My mother-in-law has a 1999 996 that she has never driven much and has not driven at all in 7 months (44,290 odometer).  A few weeks ago finally she finally decides that it needs to be driven, and because she "doesn't have the time to fool with it" I have become it's foster parent.  I wanted to do some routine maintenance i.e. change the oil, new battery, air filter, etc.  When I went to change the intake filter it is obvious that she does not have the factory intake.  Has anyone seen an intake like this one?  Or know who makes it so that I can order the correct filter?  Any help is greatly appreciated.

That is a K&N filter, a common upgrade. Check with K&N on how to clean and lightly oil. Be careful because to much oil could affect the Mass Air Flow sensor

Thanks.  I did not have the reddish color on the filter I expect to see on a K&N, but I have no idea on how long it has been since it was cleaned, so it makes sense that all of the oil has since disappeared.  Thanks for the help.
