Hi everyone.

I just called my local tire shop to purchase some rears (285/30/R18 Pirelli P Zero Rosso N4 Porsche Spec) for my 996 and they told me that they are going to be discontinuing this tire next year.

Has anyone else heard the same?

Just for thoughts, what will you ride for a daily driver tire (wet/dry performance?)

I just put 4 new Rosso's on my car a month ago. There are limited tires in a 285/30/18 with 200 - 220 treadwear.  Since the rears go out twice as fast as the fronts, I may have a dilemma when I need to replace them if Pirelli Rosso discontinues that size.

I can't speak re the 285's, but as far as the 295's go, imho, the PS2 is a superior tire.  Rain or shine, the PS2 has great traction and imparts good confidence.

But, whatever tire you choose, don't mix and match manufacturers.  If you need to replace the PZero rears, you'll need to also replace the fronts at the same time.  Otherwise you will have less than happy experiences with your abs/psm systems, including red and yellow dash lights, sudden braking, and heart attacks while taking sharp curves at modestly imprudent speeds.

If you really like them, get 4 rears and 2 fronts.  That way you'll be covered for a while when they go away. I personally couldn't stand them on my car.  Functionally fine but the noisiest high performance tire ever, in my experience.  Couldn't wear 'em out fast enough to get rid of them.  Michelin or Bridgestone much nicer for me.
