I was checking a faulty passenger side folding mirror motor and now the mirror it self is acting weird

When adjusting the glass mirror on the driver side the passenger  mirror moves as well.  When I switch the Mirror switch to the R only the passenger mirror moves.  Prior to taking the mirrors apart they always moved independently,  what did I do.  I believe the plugs in the mirror can only go in one way.  IS this a sign of the actual switch failing?

What you describe as weird has always been a standard setting, first adjust the driver's side and than the passenger side. The idea was if another driver, with a different riding position, thakes the car he coult bring in one movement both mirrors simultanious in the right position. This was of course only for cars without memory seats. Maybe something went wrong here by software.

The switch may also be a three-way switch, try the positions, for example: L=both, Midd.=only left, R=only right.
