Scheduled service costs

I am in the process of having the 40,000 mile service done on my 2012 Cayenne.  Upon shopping around, it seems that, unlike the existence of documentation in Europe stating a range of service costs, there is nothing similar for the US.  Does anyone have information/experience on the costs of this major service?

How many dealerships in your area? Call them all, and get a price and an exact understanding of what's included. Then you can compare and price shop. Don't be afraid to negotiate the price.

DC Metro with 4 dealerships.  I am hearing lots of numbers but wanted to get an idea of what other users have been paying.  Negotiation doesn't seem to be working much.

Really? They do suck sometimes!:) Maybe better finding an indy shop in your area.

 

So if dealership ABC has the best price....but XYZ is more convenient to your home/office......they won't match the ABC price to win your business?

The four Porsche dealers in the DC Metro area are saying that the 40,000 mile service is between $1,600 to $2,200.  Does this seem reasonable/competitive?  Unfortunately, I have no frame of reference on this.

Depends on what it includes.  I went with the maintenance plan on my 2013 Cayenne, but paid about $1400 for the 40K service on my 2009 997.2 about two years ago.  Note that I added some things not normally done.  I also changed the cabin and air filters myself, so it wasn't part of the cost. It did include

 

Oil change and filter

New spark plugs

New engine belt (Normally not part of the service, requested by me)

Wheel alignment (Normally not part of the service, requested by me)

Brake fluid flush (it was close enough to 2 years since the last time)

Bunch of inspections

 

My dealerships normally tries to replace the windshield wiper every 10K miles, but this is an easy DIY, so not part of the cost

 

I would get the dealerships to give you a breakdown of the costs starting with the cheapest quote.  You could also ask around for a reliable independent shop and compare prices.
