Hi I am replacing the pads on my 997.1 with PCCB. There are yellow "plastic spacers" in a lack of a better word that sits between the pistons and the pads on the calipers. They have have rubber grommet around them for dust protection to the pistons. When i removed the pads some of these came loose, they are really hard to get the rubber grommets around . How important is it to get these rubber grommets to seal completely ? I would think it is important to keep dust out from the pistons.

Hence my question, anyone tried this and have an idea of how to get the yellow plastic spacers back in, They are really difficult to get in under the rubber grommet to seal completely.

Not sue if this makes any sense, but if you have chanced pads on PCCB's i guess you know what i mean.

Appreciate any help !

You did  not tell us the exact model year or model of your car so we can not give you an exact answer.

The PCCB pad design has been changed and the newer version has different mounting hardware - so it would be best if you tell us the part number of the pads you purchased and if you purchased any new mounting hardware.

Hi Lore, the car is a 2005 Carerra S , from what i Understand they brakes should be the same as the GT3. I have now learned that this plastic inserts are actually ceramic "zirkon" .

Check racingbrake.com or store.zeckhausen.com. They have the dust boots that you need in case replacement is warranted (ie. torn boots).

If you are having difficulty getting the boots around the pucks (the zircon ones), then zeckhausen has a good brake assembly lube that will facilitate this. Getting the caliper off the hub (not necessarily disconnecting the brakelines) will make your job a lot easier. Just be sure to follow correct re-installation procedure of caliper back to the hub..
