How does Porsche numbering system work? For example there is a Porsche 924, 925, 944, 968 and so on...... but is there some sort of system they use because it seems like they are random 900 numbers.

The first three digits often denote the model or in house model number, the second group of three is the part category such as cooling system or what have you and the last three are the actual part in the categories often followed by numbers or letters which refer to updated parts,colour codes etc....
