I'm probably opening a can of worms but does anyone have an opinion on Porsche original vs aftermarket serpentine belts.

I fit a belt of a known manufacturer such as Goodyear etc, as long as you check it on a regular basis for cracking ( as you should on any vehicle) I can see no benefit from paying out for OE. Porsche don't make belts, someone makes them for them.

Attention must be given to the exact lenght of the belt, some manufacturers do not use the same belt size as OM. 1 or two mm. too short is not an immediate problem, but 1 or 2 mm. too long will result in slipping of the belt.

+1.  We have seen a couple of aftermarket belts that the owner's installed and suffered slippage issues.  Not all belt are the same quality or even the correct size; stay with a known name brand to be safe.

I only use Continental belts. Over the years I've used almost every other brand with mixed results and found Goodyear to be the worst of the bunch.

Another great suggestion is to soak your new serpentine belt in a coffee can full of Aerodpace Protectant 303--will last well over 100,000 miles then!

see You tube video on it.

I used Porsche belt, only about $40. When I moved the tensioner to the end of its travel the new belt was just long enough to slip on. Other brands may not have exactly the correct length. For $40 I would go with Porsche belt.
