i recently purchased a 2005 Cayenne turbo, and i have an issue with the park assist. when i start the car, you hear the beep for the park assist, then on both display only the left and right red light turn on and it does nothing else. when you are at stop or driving at slow speed they also turn on. on the durametric it says front and rear display failure. any solution to this problem?

ParkAssist  Fault code 0430

ParkAssistent display field (LED segments), front right

Possible cause of fault

- Wiring connection between control unit and display fields (LED segments) faulty

- ParkAssistent display field (LED segments), front, faulty

 -ParkAssist control unit faulty

Note: The display fields (LED segments), front left and right, are not separate components. They can be exchanged as a complete unit only.

ParkAssist Fault code 0431

ParkAssist display field (LED segments), rear

Possible cause of fault:

- Wiring connection between control unit and display fields (LED segments) faulty

- ParkAssist display field (LED segments), rear, faulty

- ParkAssist control unit faulty

Note: Unlike at the front, there is a combined fault code for the rear, left and right.

Best check the wiring -- especially the grounds.

And, I assume there are no other odd electrical faults? If there are then you likely need a new battery. A weak battery can cause these cars to do very strange things.

what are the symptoms or example of electrical faults? should i try a new battery or a new control unit?

also i should check the wirring on the control unit?

If your battery is 4 years old or older - replace it. It will not likely make it through the winter anyway.

You need to do more diagnostic work to narrow down the issue.

The control unit is a couple hundred dollars so check the other items first.
