I have got my pan out. Transgo kit will take two more week to arrive so i'm going to try it without. Tomorrow i'll get the valve body out. Clean them solenoids and see if anything changes.

Valve body cleaned with carb cleaner, contact spray and WD40. Solenoids tested and they seemed fine. Valvebody back in place pan also. Monday i'll get the new oil in. I have 6 quarts of Aisin T4, can i add some Toyota T4 which should be the same?

I hope i will not be needing the Transgo Kit. I saw a video on the kit and it seems pretty involving. I'll tell you monday if it worked or not. Fingers crossed!

You guys got me a bit concerned now... I just got the RevMax?! Am i just throwing my money away?!  I have spoken to others who have installed the RevMax and they said resolved all issues with shifting!  What am I missing here in this conversation?!

There is a kit called transgo which fixes the solenoids and shows you how to open and clean the valve body. I am just trying to fix my valve body cheaper. I live in South America so sending back core  would be somekind of difficult and expensive. A lot of Toyota suffer this same problem and i saw guys fixing the issue just by cleaning the valve body. So that's what i tried. Monday i'll tell you if it worked or not.

Yes, after reading though this again I realized this kit is questionable not the RevMax rebuild... I guess yes if you want to do it on your own you can rebuild it with the transgo kit.  Yes, I can't wait to replace the VB on my Cayenne, tired of the harsh shifts

Did you take all the valves out also? Also I'm unsure if cleaning the outside of the valve will help any. The bushings in the solenoids get dirty and gum up which makes the solenoids stick until pressure over comes it. With the transgo kit you clean those bushings out. Which I think might be the main problem.

not sure if your last message was to me or not but with the RevMax VB replacement, it is my understanding that ALL said components on the core of the VB are replaced.

 

BTW, RevMax uses Sonnax rebuild kits (may be better than TransGo?)  http://www.sonnax.com/categories/3-Transmission

 

Also, details of what RevMax does to rebuild the VB before it sends it out:  Quite a comprehensive rebuild that gives you that extra sense of confidence that its done right.  These are expensive transmissions as Im sure you are aware.

This thread is not about which is better. It's about installing the transgo shift kit. It fixed all my shifting problems and I'm just posting my experience. So others researching it will have the info.

Also there is a lot of "where applicable" in there. How do you know when they use it? And how do you flow test a solenoid? Fluid does not flow through it. It just pushes a valve.

Aqueous - like water? Mebbe with a bit of detergent?

I did get the solenoids but i did not get the valve body open. Car has less then 50k miles so i thought i'd give it a try. Like i said if it doesn't work i'll go for the transgo kit.

Ok, i went to take it for a spin. Smoothes real good and quickly the problem was going from 3th to second, that completely disappeared. Now It happens when shifting from 5th back to forth. Upshifting also a little bit. Car shift a whole lot better overall but the problem still is there. Just that the shifting problem shifted to another gear. Shall i go for the Transgo or should i try it again? This time opening up the valve body.

You don't have to solder the cable. Just put a jumper in the back side of pins 3 and 7 on the vehicle's connector. Make sure it has good contact. But I don't know if the vagcom can reset the transmission.

I connected my VAGCOM and it doesn't seem to reset the transmission. I did not put a jumper but it seemed to work. It read no codes i deleted fault codes but i don't think resetting codes is the same as resetting gearbox? Should i still put a jumper or what should i do. Before changing oils and filter and cleaning valve body it hardshifted sometimes from third back to second now it does it all the time going from 5th to fourth.

Ok my kit arrived today. Comes with a manual. Mine only hard shifts from 5th back to 4 when hot so it seems i don't have to mess with the solenoids at all.  I'm loving this kit already. I already did the first 2 steps. Tomorrow i'll finish it off. Quite excited :) For those who are still doubting: valve body repair can be done at home by any backyard mechanic.

Valve body back in its place so i took it for a huge drive. Shifting very nice now. I didn't reset the tranny all i did was drive. In the beginning it was acting a little strange on kickdown. Overall i'm very happy shifts like new!

@krunkmonkey, was there any instructions for drilling the plate at various points that is sandwiched in between the two half's  of the VB?

Anyone know where i can download the instructions?
