'89 911 Shutsdown while driving

My '89 911 has run flawlessly. However, of late it has been acting up. Car starts fine I drive for five minutes or so, and car shutsdown. In the time it takes me to pull off the road...say a few loving words car restarts after maybe five-ten seconds cranking. Anyone else experience this type of problem?

Need more symptoms to even begin to help.

Does it cough and sputter as it dies? If it does, it likely points to fuel related. If not, likely electrical.

Does it happen only once per drive or does the shutdown repeat?

Tank full? Have you ever drained the tank and cleaned out the screen?

Does it happen sooner if you drive hard?

When was your fuel filter changed?

Fuel smell?

Jiggle the ignition key. Warn?

Get yourself a new DME relay and exchange. Every 911 should have a spare in the glove box in any event.

Clean the fuse connections. Check/exchange the red fuel pump relay in the front.

Check and re tighten fuse connections.

As Johan says, I would start by changing the DME relay, as they are a common problem.
