I'm having a wing painted and there's confusion with the paint code.

On my sticker, it's listed as L84A. The paint shop says all Porsche paint codes are 3 characters, not 4. And he says the 84A is showing up as India Red, not Guards Red.

The paint code section here lists 84A as the water based Guards Red.

Can anybody offer clarification?

p.s. I just sent my Paypal for a contributing member!

Guards Red for MY03 is 84A (US water based paint). India Red was not available in MY03 unless it was a special order color.

I bought the car used, so I don't know what was ordered. My code definitely has an "L" infront of it. Is it possible that it is a custom color?

It sure doesn't look like it. It looks like any old regular red color that you would see on anything from a Ferrari to a Nissan...

Do you know what code India Red is?

Thanks!!!!

My Arctic Silver is L92U. The paint code for Arctic Silver is 92U. As far as I know there is an "L" in front of all the paint codes on all the stickers and perhaps stands for Lacquer.

India Red was L M3A back in the 80's. (I think India Red and Guards Red are the same anyway).
