When I come to complete stop, the automatic tiptronic downshifts to 2nd and never to 1st gear. Is this normal?

If I want it to go to first, I would have manually press the downshift button.

If I'm at a stop and want to accelerate hard without using the manual, how would it know what I want to do?

Or I am forced to manually shift using the buttons?

Hi

Yes, normal to go to 2nd. It does start off in 1st when using the warm up map when you first start up from cold. I drive in manual most of the time so shift to 1st myself but apparently if you floor it from standstill in auto (kick down) it will move to 1st for you.

Hope this helps

It's normal to do that. I have just had my box serviced by a Auot Box Specialist here in Scotland ( I used to work there) & he assured me this was normal. :drive:

I wonder if anyone has tried to switch the left side +- button? I hate the way it is designed for down shifting . I want the + button on the left side of the steering to be downshift.

When you are stationary in 2nd, it should shift to 1st if you accellerate hard.  (You shouldn't have to reach the kick-down switch for it to change to 1st).

I've noticed that it shifts to 1st after I back up, otherwise it starts in 2nd. That is normal behavior.
