Driving through Death Valley next week: anything I need to prep?

Hello! Long time lurker, infrequent poster.

My girlfriend and I are taking a road trip from San Francisco to Las Vegas for some R&R. Looking into driving to Lake Tahoe and then take 395 down the eastern side of the Sierras. But also looking to drive 178 through Death Valley.

This is late June, it is expected to be hot. Should there be anything specific to prep a 2012 Cayman R for that leg of the drive? The maintenance is up to date and everything is running like a clock. I think the Cayman cooling system should be able to handle the heat, especially if we turn off the AC. Any other recommendations?

Vulcanized tire plug kit (always a must have)- check!

Well how did the R&R trip work out. Any issues to report? I would hazard a guess and say it all went well with even the A/C running. Cheers.
