Hi folks,

Just wondering among the Renntech community, what is the general consensus of changing batteries on the 996?

I have a MY04 C2. The battery has for sure been replaced (Interstate) however, I am unsure of when as the in-service sticker was not marked off. Seeing that the car is now 10 years old, is it safe to replace the battery every five years?

The car at one point did sit for a while (prior to my ownership) so I had to throw on a charger to make sure it was up to snuff. Alternator and electronics are okay. Battery gauge shows 13.8-14.0v on start up, then 13.5-8v after a bit. Then what I think is about 13.2 - 13.5v when the car is fully warm with AC and headlights on after a good 20 minutes in stop and go urban traffic.

Thanks in advance!

Mike

You should only be replacing the battery when it is needed, which can be quickly determined by a simple "go/no go" load test that takes less than a min. to run. Most auto parts stores do this for free, and just about any decent shop should be able to do it as well.
